Camp Rock Birthday Party Ideas

There is a phenomenon from Disney that kids love. It is called Camp Rock and it follows the exploits of some teenagers at a rock and roll camp where kids learn how to become rock stars. One of the main attractions of this show is that it features the Jonas Brothers. If your child has seen this show, you might be asked by them to provide a Camp Rock themed birthday. It is not a hard task, but without some preparation, it can be a difficult task to accomplish.

Be a Rock Star

Before the birthday party, write out a bunch of names of rock stars on cards that the kids will pick their names out of. You will also have to make sure you have wardrobe items available as well. So, when the kids pick, if someone gets Elvis Presley, then give them the cardboard cutout of a guitar that they can decorate, and give them a small white jacket like Elvis would wear. This is a large project for you, but the kids will love it. Ensure that you allow the kids to re-pick if they want someone different (it is unlikely a boy will want to be Madonna). There is also nothing wrong with duplicates.

Rock Pictures

After the kids are dressed like their rock stars, you can take pictures of them in rock and roll poses (guitar in the air, etc.) The kids will love this and you can even edit them on the computer so the kids have a background of a stage, and their rock and roll name on the picture.

Watch Camp Rock

After all is said and done, you can take a break while the kids watch Camp Rock on the television, and you prepare the pictures, get the cake ready, or put out the presents. When you need a break, there is no better way to handle the kids than this.

Camp Rock is a very popular television show, and there are going to be many kids out there who want to have a Camp Rock themed birthday party. Thankfully, you will be prepared to put on the best Camp Rock birthday party around with some party supplies and these party ideas.

Personal Organisation

The first fundamental principle for successful living is “Personal Organization”. If you don’t organise your life then you will surely agonize. It sound too harsh but it is a true reality. When you ignore the nitty-gritty of putting first-thing-first in every area of your life, the outcome often times is pain and frustration. In order to avoid the usual “if I had known” statements made by most people after the mess had occurred, you should right now pay close attention to what we shall be sharing in this write up.

As an entity, you are the leader of your own life. Your leadership is best displayed by the things you do on day-to-day bases. This is what is referred to as self-leadership. Personal organisation begins by leading yourself aright. If I may ask: Did anyone remind you this morning to brush your mouth? If so, there is something wrong except if you are still a toddler under a nanny’s care. As a leader, your leadership begins with you before others. In my previous articles, I made mention of five domains or levels of leadership. The first is what we had just discussed now, self leadership, then followed by leading another person, leading a group, leading an organization, and finally leading your community or nation. You cannot lead the person next to you if cannot lead yourself. Mind you, leadership is influence. In other words, people are influenced by your positive example. That reminds us of the biblical statement that says, “First remove the beam in your own eyes before you can see clearly to remove the speck in your brother’s eyes”. People first buy into the leader before buying to what he does. That means things like action, values, attitude, character, ethics, and belief system of the leader are closely watched.

What then does it mean to organise? As a leader, to organise means to prioritize, systematize, arrange, and categorize. If you look closely to the above definition, you will notice that one common denominator is ‘order’. When something is prioritized, systematized, arranged or categorized, there will surely be an ‘order’. Simply put, to organise means to put oneself in order because an order-less life equals a dis-organised life.

Below are few things leaders should note in order to live an organized life.

Decide What You Want: Decide exactly what you want in each area of your life. This is a very critical step in getting yourself started to achieving success in life. According to Ben Stein an American law professor, “The indispensable first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: decide what you want.” Remember, no one will make this decision for you.

Set A Goal: If I may ask: What are your personal goals? What do you want to achieve in life? I believe at this stage you may have decided what exactly you want in life. Therefore, setting goal puts you in ‘personal order’ because you have a target you are aiming to achieve. Your ability to set and achieve goals will provide you with a sense of direction and is the master skill of success.

Take Charge Of Each Day: Each day is given to you for your taking. As Albert Dunning said, “great opportunities come to all, but many do not know that they have met them. The only preparation to take advantage of them is to watch what each day brings. As a leader, begin each day knowing exactly what you want to do. There is a popular saying that goes: if you fail to plan you plan to fail. Make adequate plan for each day and have a to-do-list to execute your day’s activity.

Put First Thing First: The first step in putting first things first is to identify the “first things” in your life by prioritizing your projects and tasks. The second, and often the hardest step, is to actually put the “first things first” to live your priorities. Once you have the plan for your day as stated above, then you must align your priorities towards achieving it by not engaging in unnecessary activities that will steal your time. Remember that you can do almost anything, but you cannot do everything. Whenever you start a task, you are automatically giving up everything else you could have done during that time. The best practice of putting first things first means taking conscious control of your choices and choosing to spend more time on the projects and tasks that are important and valuable and less time on the ones that are not as important or valuable.

Effective Time Management: As a leader, you should account for your time, and know how it is spent each day. Management Expert, Peter Drucker, identified this leadership principle: He said, “Good leaders need to regard first of all not their task, but their time.” Time management is a crucial tool to effective personal organization. We all have equal time and no one is deprived of it. We can only deprive ourselves when we lack the proper management and effective use of the time. Some say there is no time. This is a lie; you only have time for what you create time for and what you consider very important. Developing a mental consciousness of “no time to waste” should put a spring on your feet towards achieving your set goals in life.

Take Personal Responsibility: As a leader you must be responsible for every action that you make. Remember, it is about you not others. Leaders don’t point fingers but assume personal responsibility. When you point fingers to others and your circumstances as the causes of your problems, you are shifting responsibility and thereby missing the mark. Taking personal responsibility enables you to analysis the situation and then put appropriate measure to solve it. And in so doing you think more clearly and become more organized.

Manage Your Emotion: Not managing your emotion has a strong negative impact on your personal organization. Everyone is primarily emotional. Everything that people do, or refrain from doing, is triggered by their deeper emotions. This brings us to “emotional intelligence”, which refers to your capacity to recognize your own feelings and those of others, for motivating yourself, and for managing emotions well in yourself and in your relationships.

Start a Career in Ghost Hunting!

Over the last five years as a paranormal investigator I have attempted to answer many questions dealing with the paranormal. I certainly do not consider myself an expert by any means.

Since some of these questions have dealt with areas in which I feel I have some competence–cognitive psychology, mental illness, brain disorders, vision–I feel that I have been able to adequately address them. If I don’t feel that I have the background necessary to answer a specific question, I will refer the individual to people who do.

There is one question that has been repeatedly asked which I found surprising. I would say, the majority–but not all–of the people that have asked me this question have been teenagers.

The question is always some variation of…

“I’ve decided that I want to be a ghost hunter, you know for a job. I’ve very certain about this, do you know how I do this?”

Even with my relatively limited knowledge, I was willing to tackle this question.

I can only assume that the recent popularity of such shows as Ghost Hunters, Most Haunted, Paranormal State, and others has lead to the belief–at least in the people asking the question–that being a paranormal investigator is a legitimate career path.

So, I tell them with no uncertainty, that Ghost Hunting is probably NOT a viable career choice.

I believe that the popularity of this field touches on the basis of human existence…consider the question being asked; Is there an afterlife? Of course everyone is interested. But, lets take a step back and consider the draw as a career.

You get to travel, you get to go into cool places, it appears to be a relatively easy activity that is accessible to everyone, and you may get to be on television and become famous! There are some basic human needs being met here, and being thought of as cool because of your job is something we all could live with. Who doesn’t want recognition and to be looked up to by their peers?

So, we find ourselves easily understanding some of the motivations for seeking a career as a ghost hunter: Prestige, recognition, possible fame, working toward finding the answer of one of the most important questions of life and death.

But…

Realize that some of the most respected people in the field have been doing this for years, and most of don’t have their own television show or perhaps make a significant amount of money doing it. People labor for years to gain a level of expertise in a subject matter. Sudden stars like Jason and Grant of TAPs have been conducting paranormal investigations for years, yet, their primary careers are (or were) as plumbers.

The people whom I consider the most respected and well-known paranormal investigators are individuals like Troy Taylor, Jon Zaffis, and Lloyd Auerbach. I am not conversant on the educational and career backgrounds of these individuals, but I do believe that they are able to make somewhat of a living working in the paranormal field. None of them have a famous TV show, but all are accomplished authors, lecturers, and teachers willing to share their knowledge. Mr. Taylor–with the well-known mid-western sensibility to tell it like it is–specifically says that he eschews celebrity, having chosen

not to go that way long ago.

In my eyes, these folks are the giants, without which shows like Ghost Hunters would not exist.

Now we come to money. How does one earn money being a paranormal investigator?

While some investigators charge for their services, I would say that most do not. Groups often accept donations, even going as far as to set up a Paypal account on their Web site (which I consider particularly tacky by the way). Our group accepts donations, and though we’ve received a few, they certainly haven’t covered our expenses.

So, where does that leave us?

People that are making money in this field are authors, run tour groups and give conferences, teach classes, and, perhaps, earn money from Web site advertising or selling ghost hunting equipment. Some also may offer paranormal marketing for businesses–something we provide for free. The rarest are the very small percentage of people who have a television show and/or act as consultants to the entertainment industry.

At least as far as I can tell.

I should note that I have been contacted by three different television producers over the last 5 years (via e-mail ) looking for people to audition for new paranormal-based television shows. Pretty cool, but I’m not an accomplished or well-known investigator, so I would hazard that I was one of 1000′s of people that they contacted. Sure, they may have liked my amateurish web site, and perhaps saw my picture, but I assume that these opportunities are very rare.

Visit the International Ghost Hunters Society (Dave and Sharon Oester) at www.ghostweb.com or Mass Paranormal at www.massparanormal.net if you want examples of people that are probably able to finance their time spent doing paranormal investigations via their activities. I respect both these groups, and their Web sites are certainly worth a look.

There are many ways to earn money, but you don’t do it being an investigator, you generally have to do it by one of the ways I’ve mentioned in the previous paragraph.

So, where does that leave you for a career as a ghost hunter?

I advise people that ghost hunting is a hobby. If you can find a way to earn enough revenue to finance your hobby through donations, you are a successful ghost hunter. If you can build a popular paranormal web site and earn money through advertising and selling products on line, you are a successful ghost hunter. If you can earn revenue from teaching a workshop, you are a successful ghost hunter.

But, you better pick something else for a stable long-term career.

If you are very, very serious about the pursuit of the paranormal, there is an actual career path for you as a psychologist. You would need to start by earning your bachelors degree in psychology, they pursue a graduate degree (doctorate) in parapsychology and then, probably get a job teaching at a university. Technically, its not a career as a ghost hunter, but you’ll more then likely make enough money to finance your investigations. Ghost hunting won’t be a job, it would still be a hobby–like it is for me and the other 99% of ghost hunters out there. Of course, you’ll be extremely qualified to actually conduct investigations.

So, for all of you career track ghost hunters out there, good luck!

Does anyone have any other ideas? I’d sure like to make enough money ghost hunting to pay my mortgage.
